For the artist Jessie J my song choice‘Who You Are, by identifying the demographics and psychographics of the target audience, Which is there lifestyle, behaviour and characteristics, I have thought of and identified a target audience of people who I will be aiming my music video and promotional package to.
The target audience of my artist has a wide range because of the things that she writes about in her songs. They are very therapeutic and so relate to all people. But I am going to narrow it down to the people I think are mostly likely to see her live, which would be people between the ages of 15 and 25 both genders. This is because she is young and upcoming. She and her lyrics relate to a lot of young people around this age as it’s what she’s been through and she is roughly the same age as this target group.
I expect this group of people to come from all different walks of life and people that have had not so good upbringings. I expect them to shop in places like new look and top shop wearing fashionable clothing as Jessie J is the new upcoming talent of 2011. I do expect a fair few of her follows to be gay as she openly admits that she is bisexual and a lot of people respect the fact that she isn’t afraid to admit it and makes other people more comfortable with the fact.

Treatment for my Music Video
Artist-Jessie J
Album-Who you are
Song-Who you are
Duration-3.50
Director-Chelsea Wilkie
Label-Island Records
Overview
I have a few ideas for my music video. Using Goodwins Method of illustration and performance i aim to use my artist in both to increase the authenticity. With the song that i have choosen i feel that the lyrics need to be shown with meaning so when my artist performs the lip syncing parts i need to make her look like she really means what she is singing to make the audience really connect and understand the lyrics. I will edit my video to the beats of the music to create a meaning of its own in the video.
Style
My video is going to be set in all weather conditions because this alone portrays a meaning of it doesnt matter whatever.
In parts of my video there are bits of happiness and sadness so to represent i will have my artist wearing dull clothes on sad parts and bright clothes on happier parts. I could also use black and white effects on the sad bits to get rid of any bright colours.
I am going to base my clothing style of my artist around what Jessie J actually wears because i think she has a very unique style that needs to be shown and put across in the video to prove and amplify what the song is saying of 'be who you are' and thats what she does is be herself.
Throughout my video i will use a range of camera angles and shots with the shots ranging from an extreme close up to an establishing shot. The shots i use will depend on what is happening at the time. The pace of the editing will change throughout the song to match the pace of the music.
Concept
I am going to start of before the music starts with the artist and guitarist getting ready i.e guitarist plugging in his guitar and artist pressing play on ipod. This will be with alot of extreme close ups.
The first verse will be of the artist singing in a place with the guitarist behind her like a performance. At the point it says 'i stare at my reflection in the mirror' she will look at her reflection in either a mirror or window.
On the chorus's it will show the artist walking down random streets meeting random people smiling at them showing that everyone is different doesnt matter whether you think your weird your not your different. The randomers will be smiling, crying whatever. I would love to have a piece of contemporary dance to go in the chorus aswell because i believe this could get the meaning across really well.
Verse two back to the artist singing and she will brush her hair when it says. Keep cutting between artist, guitarist and surrondings.
Chorus same as others but with the use of different shot and angles.
Verse three the key changes to lower, i want to change the theme to a duller, darker theme so darker chlothing and maybe in the rain.
Instrumental guitar solo concentrate on guitarist with different shots of him and his guitar.
Summary
To sum it all up i am using style and the weather to represent the meaning of the song and the lyrics. The styling will be fashionable and unique, the make up will be bold and unique. Using a range of camera angles, shots and movement along with composition to have an impact on the final product.
